Last tuesday, Barbara, Geoffrey and Sophia of Contraception Education, went to the first ever North West Social Enterprise trade fair, organized at the Aintree Race Course Equestrian Centre in Liverpool.
However this was an event primarily for the North West, we were excited about the level of knowledge about social enterprises and cic’s there would be available.
A debate was held about the question whether we should define Social Enterprise once and for all. This was led by Matt Stevenson–Dodd, CEO of Young Enterprise Northwest, Fay Selvan, CEO of The Big Issue in the North and Robbie Davidson – Director of Can Cook and Families Trust.
After this, top tips were given by Robbie Davidson on how to perfect your elevator pitch. Culture Inc provided the return of the Beatles larger than life. -->
In the afternoon Graham Worrell – Chair of Social Enterprise North West, Simon Nokes – Head of Strategy and Performance, Northwest Regional Development Agency and Daniel Heery – Social Enterprise Ambassador, spoke about the future of Social Enterprise and its possibilities for communities.
In between speakers, there was time to visit the 90 stands of exhibitors, all in one way or another connected to social enterprising.
